Eröffnungsveranstaltung
Im Rahmen der offiziellen Eröffnungsveranstaltung der Internationalen Studierendenwoche in Ilmenau 2015 kommen alle Beteiligten zusammen, um den Beginn einer interessanten und ereignisreichen Woche zu feiern. Diesmal haben wir uns dafür einen besonderen Ort ausgesucht: den Ilmenauer Stadtpark. Die Teilnehmenden erwartet ein abwechslungsreiches Kulturprogramm mit Musik, Artistik und künstlerischen Darbietungen. Der Rektor der Technischen Universität Ilmenau, Professor Peter Scharff; die Landrätin des Ilm-Kreises, Petra Enders; und die Vorsitzenden des ISWI e.V., Christina Dennefeld, Georg Graser and Andreas Altringer, begrüßen alle Gäste mit einer persönlichen Ansprache.

Großvorträge
Zur ISWI 2015 gibt es verschiedene Großvorträge, die sich mit bestimmten, sehr wichtigen Aspekten des Themas ‚Verantwortung‘ auseinandersetzen. Im Folgenden finden Sie Informationen zu den einzelnen Vorträgen.
Vortrag#1: Alyn Ware, Friedensaktivist aus Neuseeland

„The renewed attention to the humanitarian and financial impacts of nuclear weapons“
Alyn Ware ist ein neuseeländischer Pazifist und Friedensaktivist. Er wurde für sein langjähriges Engagement gegen Atomwaffen 2009 mit dem Right Livelihood Award (Alternativer Nobelpreis) ausgezeichnet. Er ist zudem in zahlreichen Friedensorganisationen aktiv und lehrt ‚peace studies‘. Zur ISWI wird er neben einem Großvortrag zum Thema „The renewed attention to the humanitarian and financial impacts of nuclear weapons“ einen Workshop während des ‚Set Priorities Symposium‘ anbieten.

„We don’t care: Art as a fifth state power“
Das Zentrum für Politische Schönheit (ZPS) ist eine Vereinigung von Aktionskünstler*innen, deren Ziele „moralische Schönheit, politische Poesie, menschliche Großgesinntheit – und der Schutz der Menschheit“ sind. Das ZPS vertritt die Grundüberzeugung, „dass die Lehren des Holocaust durch die Wiederholung von politischer Teilnahmslosigkeit, die aktuelle Flüchtlings(abwehr)politik und Feigheit annulliert werden und dass Deutschland aus der Geschichte nicht nur lernen, sondern auch handeln sollte. Das ZPS betreibt seit Jahren eine parallele (schönere) deutsche Außenpolitik, die auf Menschlichkeit als Waffe setzt.“
Das Zentrum für Politische Schönheit nutzt dabei vor allem politische Aktionskunst und eine erweiterte Form von Theater, um auf wichtige politische Themen und gesellschaftliche Probleme aufmerksam zu machen. Ihrer Ansicht nach muss Kunst weh tun, reizen und Widerstand leisten; sie sprechen zusammengefasst von einem aggressiven Humanismus. Die beiden Künstler*innen Marie Felicia Natonek und Gabriela Langholf werden im Rahmen des Vortrages die Ideen und Konzepte des Zentrums für Politische Schönheit vorstellen.

Set Priorities Symposium

Das Set Priorities Symposium ist eine Veranstaltung, bei der ihr (v.a. die Teilnehmenden der Set-Priorities-Gruppen) mit Aktivist*innen und Vertreter*innen verschiedener NROs in direkten Kontakt kommt und euch über eure Erfahrungen austauschen könnt. Mittels Inputvorträgen und Workshops werdet ihr Einblicke in das Leben und die Arbeit dieser Menschen erhalten sowie kreative Ideen, die Welt mitzugestalten, erfahren. Jede*r wird hat die Möglichkeit, an insgesamt drei der über zehn angebotenen Workshops teilzunehmen.

Vortrag #3: Kasha Nabagesera, LGBTI-Aktivistin aus Uganda
Kasha Nabagesera, LGBTI-activist from Uganda
„When humanity breaks laws: Experiences from an LGBTI-activist“
Kasha Jacqueline Nabagesera ist Mitbegründerin und langjährige Geschäftsführerin der Homosexuellen-Bisexuellen-Transgender-und-Intersex-Personen-Organisation „Freedom and Roam Uganda“ (Freiheit und Bewegung in Uganda), die sich insbesondere auch für Frauenrechte einsetzt. Sie kämpft kontinuierlich für die Rechte von diskriminierten Gemeinschaften. Schon mit 21 begann sie, für die Rechte Homosexueller einzutreten und half, eine starke Bewegung zu errichten. Sie erhielt für ihr Engagement unter anderem den Internationalen Menschenrechtspreis von Nürnberg. Innerhalb der ISWI wird sie über dieses Engagement und die Schwierigkeiten, die ihr im täglichen Kampf für Menschenrechte begegnen, sprechen.

Vortrag #4: Bodo Ramelow, Ministerpräsident von Thüringen
Bodo Ramelow, Minister-President of Thuringia
„Sozialer Zusammenhalt – gemeinsame Verantwortung“
Auch der amtierende Thüringer Ministerpräsident Bodo Ramelow wird zu den Teilnehmenden der ISWI 2015 sprechen. Bodo Ramelow ist ein deutscher Politiker und Mitglied der Partei DIE LINKE. Er unterstützt antirassistisches Engagement und hat sich in jüngster Vergangenheit gemeinsam mit Parlamentariern vieler Parteien stark dafür eingesetzt, das die Verbrechen der rechtsextremen terroristischen Vereinigung NSU in Thüringen aufgeklärt werden. Er ist außerdem Vorstandsmitglied der Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung und der Linken Medienakademie. Darüberhinaus ist er Mitglied der Gewerkschaft ver.di, der Deutsch-Israelischen Gesellschaft (DIG) und engagiert sich in vielen weiteren Vereinen.
Er wird im Rahmen des Dies academicus der TU Ilmenau zum Thema „Sozialer Zusammenhalt – gemeinsame Verantwortung“ sprechen.

„IDEAS for Us – Solutions for all“
Chris Castro is an emerging social eco-preneur, community organizer, and sustainability professional with a passion for accelerating the transition to a clean energy economy.
He is the current Sustainability Program Manager and Senior Energy Adviser for the City of Orlando. He holds a BSc. degree in ‘Environmental Studies’ and ‘Energy & Sustainability’ from the University of Central Florida (UCF). Through his years as an undergrad, he co-founded IDEAS For Us, an international nonprofit and UN-accredited NGO, building a movement of people around the world working to promote environmental solutions and sustainability. In 2012, Chris also partnered with professionals to create a clean energy consulting firm – Citizen Energy – that is implementing energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions in commercial buildings in Washington DC. Together with his colleague Chris Stampar he will give the introductory talk for the groups of the subtopic ‚Take responsibility‘.
They will also perform ‚The Hive‘, an inter-generational and inter-disciplinary think and do tank working to solve community based sustainability issues through action.

European Trade Union movement in the 21st century„
Peter Scherrer is a long-term union worker. He currently holds the position of Officer for European Industrial Policy at the Federal Board of IG Metall (German Metalworkers Trade Union). Based on his high level of international engagement and his six year term as Head of International Relations at the Hans-Böckler-Stiftung he has a very broad overview of worker unions in Europe, their history and especially their current problems and aims. In his introductory lecture for the group ‚Stay Active‘ he will give more details about working unions.

Here you will meet your groupleaders and get to know the members of your group. This is a good opportunity to get to know each other and share your first impressions of Ilmenau and your journey. You can also use this time to get some important information for the week and answers to (almost) all of your questions from the groupleaders. Therefore, it is very important for you to take part in this event. Nevertheless, do not worry if your arrival is later on Saturday. You will also be able to join the group later on.

Group Work
Group work is the heart of ISWI. We offer 29 working groups, each dealing with a certain aspect of the main topic ‚responsibility‘. There are thematic groups and art groups. Here you can find an overview on the groups. Within the group sessions you will have the possibility to share your experiences and views, discuss in detail and work towards solutions for actual and current problems. Within the application process you are asked to decide which working group you would like to join during the conference. You can state your three top preferences, but you will only be able to take part in one group, according to our capacities.

ISWI Open Space
Youth Future Project
It´s all about you to ‚Create your Space‘. During this Open Space session participants will have the chance to get active by contributing their input. There will be no restrictions on topics or the kind of activities. After a short introduction of the basic ideas of the method participants will fill the space with whatever topics, questions, dreams, visions or knowledge they may bring with them. Be curious and open for everything that will happen during this Open Space Session.
The session will be hosted by members of the Youth Future Project e.V.
The Open Space principles are:
- Whoever comes is the right people.
- Whatever happens is the only thing that could have.
- Whenever it starts is the right time.
- When it’s over, it’s over.
In general, every participant should make use of the ‚law of two feet‘:
„If at any time during our time together you find yourself in any situation where you are neither learning nor contributing, use your two feet, go someplace else.“

Closing Ceremony
From 8.00 pm the Closing Ceremony will take place. This is the last time all participants, groupleaders and all people involved in organizing the International Student Week in Ilmenau will come together. You can enjoy the presentations of the art groups. Together we will look back on a week full of discussions, lectures and celebration before everybody leaves again and takes their new ideas back home to put them into action.
After the Closing Ceremony you will have time to personally say goodbye to everyone and exchange contact details to keep in touch.
